Lighting the Heart of Central Arkansas

The Veterans Memorial Bridge, also known as the Broadway Bridge, is arguably the most beautiful bridge in the Natural State. But unlike other notable bridges in Central Arkansas, its iconic design is visible during the day but remains unlit and invisible at night. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Through a Rotary Club-led community effort kicked off during our region’s tricentennial year, we are asking community leaders to help us light the amazing arches of this beautiful bridge.

Why Light the Veterans Memorial Bridge?

We already have a culture of lighting bridges in Central Arkansas. But this one can be transformational for the region, offering recreation, wellness, educational, tourism and economic development opportunities.

It’s much more than just lights on a bridge. It will serve as a beacon to drive economic impact and tourism differently with continued investments near the Arkansas River with views of this iconic bridge. Imagine new mixed-use living spaces with hotels, rooftop bars and restaurants, weekly light shows synced up to music, programs to highlight the work of area non-profits, youth engagement through STEM skills development and coding competitions, building and retaining a new tech workforce, bridging our cultural divides and creating new opportunities to bring us together as one region with a renewed emphasis on our region’s greatest asset, the Arkansas River.

The Heart of The Rock

The Veterans Memorial Bridge is one of our state’s most iconic landmarks. Lit at night, it will serve as a new area tourist attraction, giving tourism officials a new opportunity to celebrate our region’s rich history and visitors an opportunity to experience the region in a new, fresh way.

Economic & Social Benefits

Lighting projects from around the world have shown direct economic and citizen engagement benefits, and we believe Central Arkansas could benefit from the same.

A Platform for Community

While lighting the bridge does not solve big issues such as poverty or segregation, it does offer a platform for building awareness and unifying communities.

Community Engagements

There’s no question that Arkansas’ transformation is steered in part by its amazing business community. Highlight your organization’s achievements with a corporate sponsorship or learn more about our initiative to create STEM opportunities for young people.

Code the Rock

Code the Rock will serve as an innovative educational tool to expand our region’s STEM and coding initiatives. Through an annual competition for area school districts, we will foster new and lasting connections between the next generation of tech talent and the community, right here in the Rock. Imagine seeing students experience their interactive LED light shows set to the tunes of their favorite songs. By watching their coding efforts come to life, they will feel challenged to see a brighter road ahead, inspiring them to consider coding as a career!

Sponsor Spotlight

Once installed, you can Illuminate the Rock with a sponsored light show for your company or organization or even your favorite non-profit.
